What do you like about working at Bureau of Labor Statistics?

"I really like most of the people I'm working with. I also like that hours are fairly flexable and everyone seems to understand that real life takes precedence over work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't even bother with job descriptions and titles. The only way to know what the position is really about is to ask someone."

What don't you like about working at Bureau of Labor Statistics?

"We adhere strictly to a 40 hour work week which doesn't make much sense because there's rarely exactly 40 hours of work to do in a week. Yet we have to put in 40 hours at the office, even if there's nothing to do, and when we have more than 40 hours of work to do getting overtime approve is difficult and expensive. It seems like life would be much easier here for everyone if we were salaried with no hourly requirements."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"We seem to divide projects by business need instead of by workload or area of expertise which really irritates me. It just seems so inefficient."
