"Bloomingdale's is great place for an Entry Level Job. Sales Support positions are limited but management does a decent job providing you with opportunities should you demonstrate potential. Merchant Organization is very structured with many demonstrated success stories of Merchant Assistants climbing their way to a coveted Buyer position. Senior Management attempts to be very transparent by holding frequent touch back meetings to discuss current focus/challenges and ongoing strategies."

"1. Go to Bloomingdale's.com and read up on the company. 2. Go to Google.com and read up on upcoming events, recent press releases, etc. 3. Know why you are interested in getting into Retail. 4. Don't use cheesy phrases like Passion for Fashion, Detail for Retail, etc."

What don't you like about working at Bloomingdale's?

"Current economy has led to many cut-backs... These result in more work & less pay. Greater focus on time management and STRESS..."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create more opportunities for Executives to mingle. I've been working at Bloomingdale's for years and am still learning of new businesses that we are in. For example: Did you know Bloomingdale's has an Interior Design Department Studio Services MIO Inforem Planning."

"I meet great people from whom I learn a lot. I learn how to interact with people from different cultures and background. I learn how to be patient and listen. I was not only a salesperson, but a friend, and sometimes a counselor. In a job like that you have to be very patient because some people seek attention and somebody to listen to them and compliment them more than what they came to look for."

"I think they know what they are doing, otherwise they won't be there."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"A good management is a key to a successful place. Without a good management, nothing will work. It will be chaos. A good management is being perfect at what a person is doing. From supervising a group of people to making sure that everything is done in time and perfectly, and also being ready to any surprise that may come on the way and taking care of it diligently."

"The most I liked about working at Bloomingdale's was the people. The team of people there were very well mannered, helpful, professional and most importantly communicated well from Executive Management to employees. The quality of people reflected the excellent service experience for our shoppers."

"Prior to leaving Bloomingdale's the atmosphere started to become very stuffy and gray, possibly because motivation for the employees was starting to become scarce."
