What is a social entrepreneur?
While the term “social entrepreneurship” may strike you as somewhat of a buzz word, it’s an important movement that is creating innovative, strong, and conscious leaders. A social entrepreneur is anyone who ventures to create change through work and a vision. What do you mean?
Do you love your job? Do you love your community? One thing that you may not realize is that each one of us can use our talents, our jobs, and our daily routine to impact and create change. As someone who has created a company based on happiness, the one thing that gives people the greatest sense of joy (even above their salary) is others – being around and working on a good team is key to happiness at work. Imagine taking that one step further.
How do I create positive change through work?
I realized that my strengths lie in helping to create companies and business strategy, but how can that impact good for others? By mentoring social entrepreneurs and helping guide them with some of the foundation that leads to successful business practices, I can arm social entrepreneurs to help their causes grow, succeed, and scale. (Phew, a mouthful!). What are you good at in your career? How can you use that strength to help bring about a positive change to someone?
After a visit in November to the Obama Summit, a two-day non-political summit on how people can make change for the better in their own lives and in ways that truly change the world around us, I was inspired by many social entrepreneurs. I met women and men who were committed to helping preserve our native lands, protect and preserve the rights of humanity, and improve the state of our environment. These bright stars of our future are an inspiration to us all, and help us lead to greater positivity in our own lives, and the lives of those around us.
