What do you like about working at Blackbaud?
"I enjoyed, for the most part, the high level of independence that was portrayed during my first half of employment there. I also enjoyed working with numerous Non-profits dealing with all types of social issues."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"It's a great company, but beware - you are simply a conduit for them. You take money from nonprofits and give it to the company so it looks good on the quarterly report, ultimately keeping the shareholders (aka parasites) happy. If you aren't answering emails or calls on the weekend or late at night you will receive some type of discussion. Be wary of management - even if you are 100% of your quota they will not be satisfied and if thy are not satisfied with you achieving the goals that you both agreed upon - you will be shown the exit. There is a reason BB has such a high turn-over rate."
What don't you like about working at Blackbaud?
"Blackbaud has a very complex internal structure when dealing with the sales process. There are multiple sales teams (RE Inside, RE Outside, AAM's who sell training for their AE, enterprise sales, Target Analytics - ect). Everyone has the same client base that they call. So clients might get 3 or 4 calls from a BB sales rep in 1 day. And sales reps have no loyalty to anyone else but themselves to ensure they hit their quota."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"1- Train your people to be experts in the products they sell 2- BB is in place to help NonProfits grow - embrace that! Instead of receiving payments from your clients for a product or service that they don't use, or (in many cases didn't know they had) accept that while you may lose some revenue because of the cancelation of a product or service - you are helping that organization and will be seen as a caring advisor, not just a bill collector.3- INNOVATE! Expediting the creation and implementation of new products and services is crucial! Be the market leader you claim to be and develop new products. Don't just buy a small company that has developed a new product and consider that product development4- LOSE THE STACK RANKING SYSTEM! Microsoft uses the same employee review system and look what has happened to them!5- TEACH MANAGERS HOW TO MANAGE! Just because an individual was great in a sales position does NOT mean they will be a successful manager. It is very difficult to teach someone to be a good manager. A Manager is a leader, which comes naturally for certain people. You can't teach a short person to be tall... they either have it or they don't."
