Porter

"Let me just say, that I was fine for a year working here, got along with everyone, and I went on leave for a while because of elbow problems. I applied for Porter and did not want anything else as I explained to ESR because I was on light duty. I went back after two months and was told that my position was temporary, was literally being forced to do something I'm not comfortable with, cross-train. Was not told this prior, So a lot of Lack of Communication caused me to quit, mind you, the assistant store Mgr is very unprofessional and unapproachable, and egoistic! I can definitely move on and better myself!"

"Big Y purchased multiple Hannafords in 2916 resulting in my change of employer. I have been in customer service for 11 years and have enjoyed every second of it. But movement within the company isn’t something that comes up often"

"I hated working here most of the time. I met some nice coworkers. I had people to discuss the job with, but I just wanted to get out of here. They made sure I felt guilty forever over one bad night, but my coworkers who messed up all the time were just allowed to do as they pleased. They only gave me compliments when no one was around, and I only got one good performance slip. My main manager would say mean things about me behind my back, and make me work all weekend, because one coworker was too slow, and one loved drinking all weekend. I'm glad that it's over."

"Is a good company for a high-school student or college student to work at, since they have limited hours they can work and there's only limited hours given. Then they can have a little pocket change. Turnover rate for employees is pretty high."

"I've worked for big y for 10 years. They have given me the ability to learn and practice my skills in the bakery industry. They have promoted me several times and I am currently the full time cake decorator. The store i currently work in has about 100 employees currently in our store. It offers employees several opportunities to cross train in other departments to expand their knowledge in other area's of the store, it helps to better serve our customers. They give fair reviews. They're fair"

"There is poor management. No direction, no opportunity to advance. Same responsibilities with no variance. No reward for a job well done. If you are looking for a job where you would like to see a great final product, you don't want to work here."
