"It is very typical of a community healthcare setting. The CEO has been there in one capacity or another for 30 years. They are nice, but definitely need to get a more for-profit idea of how things operate."
"There are a lot of people that have been there for so many years that they are entrenched in how they do things and extremely resistant to any change."
"I have worked at my current location for almost 3 years. In this time I have trained and help set the standard for ethical work."
"The Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center has a great mission in providing medical care to the underserved and indigent population of central Brooklyn. The rank-and-file employees, who are primarily from the community, are congenial, hardworking and dedicated to their work. However it is not a good place to work due to insular and inept leadership, low pay, nominal benefits, financial instability, nepotism, cronyism, ethnic partiality, and organizational growth stagnation. Management bullies the staff, causing the fear of job loss and a sense of subjugation. Ideas for progressive change are neither accepted nor encouraged. Voicing a difference of opinion may lead to vindictive consequences. The problem is with upper management. The Board of Directors should revamp the entire administrative staff, replacing it with an avant-garde business focused team in order to attain future progress and stability for the Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center."
"The Center provides a diversity of services to a high volume of patients with various medical needs. Because of the high volume, I have to deal with many irate patients who had to wait long periods of time to be served. From my experience, working at the Center has not been favorable due to insular leadership, low pay, nominal benefits, limited resources, nepotism, favoritism, and the lack of recognition and overall fair treatment. Management bullies the staff, causing the fear of job loss and a sense of subjugation. Ideas for progressive change are neither accepted nor encouraged. Voicing a difference of opinion may lead to vindictive consequences. I enjoy working with my co-workers who are congenial, hardworking and dedicated to their work. They are proponents of teamwork in order to provide quality and efficient care to the patients."
