"I experienced an issue involving a basic lack of communication. As a supervisor assigned to schedule the actual work it is in my best interest to understand all phases of the project as thoroughly as possible. I was repetitively told not to worry about parts of the project, not to ask questions, not to talk to people that were involved in the project and most frustrating of all to slow down. The project had very short schedule for the 1st 2 phases. Communication to correctly plan these was vital to the success of meeting the milestones. I did not have actual plans, I didn't have clear directions. In that circumstance I asked everyone the same questions, that's how I would get answers from each and could understand whether they were all seeing the project the same. When there are multiple customer reps, we must meet the needs of them all, it helps to clarify their opinions early in order to get them on the same page and to make sure that the transition from one phase to the next goes smoothly. I don't like to wait until the work is half done before making sure that we are doing it the way they want it. If changes need to be made I want that to happen before we have to undo our work."
