What do you like about working at Barrios Technology?

"The fact that the position is affiliated with NASA and generates my general interests in science and new developments; however, my personal job growth and skill level is not challenged."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't believe the hype, set the bar low, and ask questions. Interviewing managers have a tendency to warn potential employees of current issues within the job, even to single out current employees a prospective employee woudl need to watch out for.....take it with a grain of salt."

What don't you like about working at Barrios Technology?

"Poor management; lack of leadership and mentorship; unknowledgeable management; too much red tape since dealing with the government so it creates a very divisive egg shell type of environment; employees are scrutinized by position, or level of hierarchy, only and not attributions, accomplishments or dedication; no opportunities for advancement; no opportunities for growth with respect to skill set; biased management; corporate mentality of more work for less money - bids contracts very low and adjust job titles to include as much work as possible (one stop shop) but pays less due to the assigned job title; very little acknowledgment of employee accomplishments; payment is requested to attend the Holiday party, and for other gatherings employees are asked to provide the food and cannot charge to work hours even if during work hours where pertinent information such as benefits is being discussed; lack of communication to employees; very disorganized; management fosters a mentality which pits peers against peers instead of encouraging civil actions and discussions where there are disagreements."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would take more interest in my employees. Seek out their strengths and weaknesses and help foster the strengths and provide avenues and incentives to improve upon weakness. I would foster progressive and innovative thoughts, and less on tradition. I would allow for, and actively support, job growth opportunities. I would make sure my employees are kept comfortable in their cubicle environments, as opposed to denying tools recommended by ergonomic assessments. I would promote breaks, especially for those that attend or sit for prolonged periods of time. I would talk to my employees, and welcome suggestions. I would provide leadership training to all QUALIFIED managers to ensure they understand how to lead, mentor, train, and foster a positive team environment."
