"What I love about my current position is the positive work environment and what I least enjoy is seeing projects not fully completed."

"While it does mean you have to interact with customers far less, one of the nicer things about backroom work is that there is far less busy work to do than real work."

"Not a BAD place to work, but be warned!"

What do you like about working at Target?

"Most of the people I worked with were very nice."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Despite being upset at how and why I was fired, Target really isn't that bad a place to work. They are pretty flexible with hours. Most people who work there are nice. The job isn't that difficult. Long at times, yes, but not that difficult. Pay and benefits are a little bit of a joke, and you will almost never get as many hours as you want unless you're a butt kisser or suck-up; you also cannot, I repeat, CANNOT go into this job expecting or even hoping at eventual promotion or advancement. There are a few exceptions, of course, but the vast majority of leadership roles go to people outside the company or to those straight out of college (our Logistics Team Lead is an example of this). If you understand this about the pay, benefits, and advancement opportunities, and are willing to take this job as a side job, a temp job, or if you simply don't mind, then this job really won't be that bad. Despite what happened to me, I did enjoy my time there and don't regret it for a second. I don't want anything I've said to scare you from taking this job. Just be warned, and be careful!"

What don't you like about working at Target?

"People are punished and fired for the dumbest things. As an example... I worked with Target for over 3 years. I never once got in trouble and never once got written up for anything. I was a trusted team member, and aside from the team captain, I was the senior team member for the early morning backroom team (often, on Sundays, I was the only backroom team member for the first half of the day). One day, I forgot to clock out and ended up clocking out an hour after my scheduled time. Ordinarily, this could've been fixed by filling out a punch correction form. Instead, a few days later, I was involuntarily terminated, their BS term for fired. 3 years of faithful service. No conduct problems. No black marks on my record. Impeccable performance reviews from both the backroom and flow team team leaders. And I get fired for this. I was told by corporate, after they claimed to have done a thorough review and investigation, that company policy was followed in my firing. Total bull****. If they had really done a review or investigation, I would've gotten my job back. Any, ANY company that fires someone for such flimsy excuses without even giving them a chance or at least a warning first has some SERIOUS issues. Fast, Fun, and Friendly... yeah, right. They may or may not have a legal right to fire someone without warning or for any reason, but that does not make it right. If I had for a SECOND felt that what I did (or didn't do) deserved me getting fired over, I would understand it and would not be upset. That is simply not the case, and the government or some review board or something needs to investigate Target's policies."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I hope management of the store I worked at sees this, because I'm going to be brutally honest. We all know that A LOT of sucking up and butt kissing occurs at the store. Even while I was still there and actually happy with the job, me and, literally, 90% of the team members in the store could see it. And most of it occurs at the higher levels of management. One of the biggest and most flagrantly obvious examples is how the POG Team Leader is the Store Team Leader's pet. Anyone who speaks out against her or complains about her, no matter how justified they are (and they almost always are), they end up an enemy of the Store Team Lead and end up being fired shortly thereafter or end up having their lives made a living h*** until they quit. Almost everyone who works there will tell you this, even some of the team leads. I am not exaggerating or being vindictive; it's the simple truth. The Logistics Team Lead is a suck-up too. The Logistics Team Lead takes credit for the work and idea of others when she has no right to do so. I could go on and on, but you SERIOUSLY need to actually get out of your offices and actually go out among the other employees. In other words, you need to actually do some management instead of letting your subordinates filter all the facts. Oh, and get a new HR team lead; one of my friends at your store tells me that no one likes her. Also, the flow team leader and the former backroom team leader (now the AP guy) are total saints and deserve all the praise and raises they can get! As I said, I could go on and on about all the problems, troubles, and potential problems and troubles that are occurring at your store (and a bit at corporate), but I'll stop here for now. Just ask yourselves if you truly have control over your store and if you truly know what's going on (which I don't believe you do)."
