What do you like about working at AT&T?

"I like the technology areas AT&T and the Mobile group. There are opportunities for emerging technologies, if a person keeps up with the trends."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Come with balanced experience. Product Manager and Product Marketing positions now require a lot more of finance as well as business savvy than they did 5 years ago. If you are weak in finance, go take a couple of classes to brush up in that area. Spreadsheets and business cases are important and the Product folks play an important role in this area."

What don't you like about working at AT&T?

"They still have leftover big company mentalities regarding workers as a cog in the machine, rather than viewing them as individual contributors who create value for the company. The company tries to innovate in the marketplace but rarely are first to market. They have the capabilities, but process and too many checks and balances leave them behind."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Improve the processes, streamline them and get IT to be excited owners in the products and services they work on. Many of us get the feeling that IT keeps to a budget and are accountable only to a timeline, rather than delivering a best-in-class product."
