Submit a Review"I loved working produce and helping customers to make healthy choices. I loved the challenge of getting the job done with increasingly fewer and fewer resources over the years, a trend that increased to staggering proportions following becoming a publicly-traded company. That's when it stopped being the good job it's historically been known for. The two-tier pay system was implemented, buyouts were offered to anyone of journeyman status, and the company officially became a revolving door of employees who didn't give a crap about performance because the pay was so low. Despite recognizing this and recognizing the decline in services for employees that had made it a fun job for so long, I was just too loyal and stubborn to make moves when I first recognized it (not to mention my fear of the unknown and the fact this was the only job I've held from the time I was old enough to work until I was 30 years old and finally began my teaching credential). The scheduling does not promote any sort of healthy work-life balance and is especially unkind for single parents who must find child care to accommodate a schedule that changes every week, and the only advance notice you are able to provide is the 3 or so days provided when it comes out on Thursday for that Sunday. Any time off outside your work availability, which if you want to work anything remotely close to full-time has to be completely open, is up to the discretion of the store manager and in my experience, whether you get it or not is entirely dependent on your relationship with them. In an example of falling victim to doing something well, there were plenty of times where It wasn't uncommon for me to work 3-4 departments in a given week and for my schedule to include opening shifts, mid shifts, swing shifts, and overnight shifts, as an order writer in each with no regard for what would be healthy or allow for any kind of work-life balance or ability to plan beyond the current schedule."
