"Recent strong financial performance in my group and the great team I was working with."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Seriously consider any offer they make. Ashland is moving forward."

What don't you like about working at Ashland Chemical?

What do you like about working at Ashland Chemical?

"I like the friendly environment, the supportive staff, and the close relationships the staff form with each other. I like that the university has a great understanding of work-life balance (good hours, holidays off, adjusted summer hours, etc). I like working with a lot of different people and interacting with coworkers, students, and employers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be sure to talk about your enthusiasm for higher education and serving students - that's why we are here!"

What don't you like about working at Ashland Chemical?

"I don't like that it is very hard to advance at Ashland University. I didn't think it would take so long for me to advance/change titles, but my title hasn't changed yet. I learned I can't advance in my current division until I get my Master's degree, which I still have to pay half for even though I work here, and I have to wait 5 years after my hire date to start the program if I wish for the university to pay half. That is 3.5 years from now."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"If I were running the show, I would change the employee benefits to cater to whether an employee is full-time or part time, so that all full-time employees have the same benefit plan. Even though I work full-time, like the rest of my staff, my benefits are different from theirs because I am paid hourly. I get less time off and less sick time even though I work full-time, just because I'm paid hourly."

What do you like about working at Ashland Chemical?

"My former company, International Specialty Products, was acquired by Ashland Inc. I've just recently have now report to an Ashland manager. I don't have enough time with the company to know what I like or don't like yet. So far I'm working with a good team, so the future has promise as long as Ashland's synergy plans don't eliminate my position after the current integration project."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Too new to Ashland to be able to advise someone interviewing."

What don't you like about working at Ashland Chemical?

"Not enough training on their methods and systems, yet you are still expected to get projects completely in the tight timeframe."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"No sure. Have not been with the company long enough to know if the philosophies make sense or not. They are a successful company, so they must have merit."
