"Pretty much everything. The work was fun, the people were great, the atmosphere was conducive to happy employees."

"Be prepared to work 30 to 90 hours per week. Some weeks were slow, some I put in 16 hour days, seven days per week for weeks on end. This is standard practice at this company."

What don't you like about working at Applied Materials?

"Was hired on as a contract employee and all permanent positions were frozen, then dropped before I could get hired on permanent."

"Management at this position was top notch. Industry is very hard to predict."

"The part I dislike is that we have to work in night shift in China which is day time for US in order to timely communicate with our vendors (most of them are located in US) and support our co-workers in US."

"I had great benefits. In spite of management blunders, the people who did the work were excellent to work with."

"Be people/customer oriented, know your technical field, and be professional."

"There was no ability to flex my schedule. Because they were so in bed with their customers (which the customers liked), we had to continually shift days to nights and vice versa. Very few people liked to work nights so again we had to rotate."

"Take care of your people -- that's how you make your customers happy."
