"I worked for Apple retail for multiple stints, and while I think the company is an excellent jumping off point particularly for young workers or students it lacks longevity and can be inflexible. The chief issue being a widespread belief in a 'company can do no wrong attitude.' Personal responsibility is encouraged, though institutional responsibility is rare"

"I worked for Apple for just under 3 years. During that time I was able to grow and become on the top geniuses at both the stores I worked at. There is a great work/life balance and the management seems to actually care. The compensation for senior leveled genius is not as good as it should be, however benefits, employee purchase programs, stock portions, and more help. I would 100% recommend working at Apple to anyone, and have actually gotten a few people to join in on the fun!"

"Don't be afraid to show your personality. Be bold and have big ideas."

What don't you like about working at Apple?

"What bothers me the most is how little consideration and respect those of us at the bottom are given by management. I feel as though certain employees are favored greatly above others, which makes striving for success very difficult. I feel as though it doesn't matter how successful I am. My achievements will go unrecognized and I will be treated like I don't know what I'm doing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would give people more space to be themselves, and not try to press everyone into a 'one size fits all' box. I wish those at the bottom of the pyramid were treated with more respect and their opinions were valued."

"Be sure that you really want to work for the company, since employment can sometimes feel like a meat grinder."

"Apple's commitment to the consumer electronics retail market at the time was limited and not well-planned."

"Management can be a little too proud of being Apple on occasion. They need to remember that they aren't as special as they sometimes think they are."

"Well, you get to work in an environment that lets you show your tattoos and plugs, and have colored mohawks, which is rare these days unless you work in a record store."

"Clear your schedule out, forget about weekends, or family. Apple is your new life."

"I don't like the pay. We fix computers, we provide tech support, and we put up with difficult people. You can make more money doing this somewhere else."

"We don't need management if we have leads. Please leave us alone, and only provide the leads with feedback if the team isn't doing everything they can. Then the leads can speak with us."
