"Be sure to measure your success on your own scale. Do not allow inept leadership to deter you from achieving the greatest possible level of education that you can provide for the students."

What don't you like about working at Ann Arbor Public Schools?

"I have a hard time dealing with the inefficient leadership at the administration level. I feel as though the people in charge of the school have lack any and all drive or clarity of vision. Their policies and practices are severely weak, allowing for failed education and discipline at the student level."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"To become self-motivated and more involved. It's amazing to see administrators less than two or three times around the school. Some of them pull the greatest disappearing acts I have ever witnessed."

"The complexity of the building program, solving, coordinating and communicating solutions to a large number of diverse individuals all with different levels of understanding about the the design and building program. The ability to organize finances, work with the State of Michigan and city officials in a successful LEED certified building program."

"I worked over 80 hours per week which can burn out a person over two years."
