Senior Revenue and Capacity Analyst

"If you are a 20 or 30-something year old white guy, this is the company for you. If you are a woman or person of color, you can get a job at Amtrak, but you are unlikely to get promoted, despite your effort. Only old white men can be CEOs. It is a hyper masculine environment. If you know this going in, then you'll be fine. If you are a young white guy, you have a very good chance of being hired and more importantly, promoted at Amtrak. Go for it."

"This company is hot for the faint of heart. You have to be prepared to conform to work practices that would literally boggle your mind. The company has little value for it's employees, and there is no loyalty. Also, the term "employee morale" is completely lost on them."

"Amtrak is a great company undergoing many changes and challenges. Once these changes are fully implemented we will see great strides in improving the quality of transportation and safety. Amtrak needs new blood to revitalize its operations; if old timers can change that is just as good. It is hard to teach an old timer new tricks, but it is possible."

"Although Amtrak provides good compensation and benefits, the work environment is very hostile and dangerous at times. In addition, there is almost no support from management and at times the relationship between worker and manager is contentious. In addition, the trend seems to be management's tendency to quickly and arbitrarily terminate employees without due process."
