"I didn't like the income that much. It left little opportunity for me to grow."

"The management was great, I don't really have too many suggestions. One thing the management did that I would like to do if chosen for this position is encourage the people that work under me. Encouragement from my supervisor helped me do a better job."

"Be aware of the challenge before you commit. make sure you are motivated by the mission and will enjoy the work environment and culture because working as a volunteer can become taxing."

What don't you like about working at AmeriCorps?

"work can be monotonous, I don't like supervising volunteers because they aren't bound to the company and are therefore tenuous, I am looking at a computer for 95% of my time there"

"Communicate my needs more frequently and more directly with the remaining staff. clarify my role and how it influences the organization and be clear about what I need from them on a regular basis"

"Be open and honest, and have your resume in front of you during the phone interview, so you will be able to reference it when answering questions."

"There wasn't that much support where I worked, and I often felt like I was alone in all of my decision making, despite having so many people to answer to if something went wrong."

"They should expand their support network and have everyone working at a few schools instead of so spread out and alianated."

"I volunteer as a computer literacy instructor. I get great pleasure in helping my adult students learn how to use the computer as a tool for information and how to navigate the internet."

"Just be yourself. The people here are friendly and devoted to what they do."

"As a paid volunteer, I do not make much money which forces me to seek employment elsewhere."

"This non-profit is run very efficiently. It will be, very shortly, consolidated into one location (there are 4 locations). Once consolidated, there may be a need to reorganize how things are run. Until that time, I have no suggestions."

"Through AmeriCorps I had the opportunity to serve my community, help others and receive training that increased my skills and experience. I also was able to receive funding for continuing education after my commitment was ended."

"AmeriCorps takes a true commitment to serving ones community and the people in it. It is not for those who are merely looking for a paycheck or to get money for college. If you are not truly committed to service and creating a better community, this is not the place for you."

What don't you like about working at AmeriCorps?

"I wish there was no limit on the enrollment period. It is currently limited to a two year commitment."

"I would suggest a broader base of partner agencies for a more diverse posting"
