"People would stay longer, work harder and for less if they were respected and heard"

"Everyone at the AHA was truly interested in advancing the mission of education, research and fundraising."

"Flexibility and ingenuity are vital- not just buzzwords, but the ability to work under very tight financial constraints."

What don't you like about working at American Heart Association?

"The IT budget was very tight- to the point that the mission was sometimes unreachable. Field staff who were supposed to have laptops had pencils and paper because we just didn't have the money available."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management did a good job cutting costs. It was personally unfortunate that some of the cost cutting included my position, but they did need to get into their budget in order to continue the mission."

What don't you like about working at American Heart Association?

"Supervisor had no vision, was not supportive, and provided very poor coaching and little/no development."

"I was an intern. I loved the teamwork and the overall mission of the organization."

"The cornerstone of a successful career with AHA is effective volunteer management. Being a talented sales person will only carry you so far. Dynamic and sustainable success requires you to recruit and manage volunteers who will become your sales force for the cause."
