"Everyone has their area of expertise, and if you manage yours well you are trusted to manage your own time and resources. I like the amount of autonomy this gives me. The work we do is amazing and necessary."

"It's a great place to work, extremely rewarding but with a minimum of guidance or encouragement from coworkers. If your a self-starter who is passionate and love your work, you'll thrive."
What don't you like about working at American Civil Liberties Union?
"Departments do not communicate, there is little feeling of momentum."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would institute some formal ways for different departments to communicate goings-on, since often people are surprised to hear about events or cases that hadn't been discussed. I'd also make sure that employees have a way to check in and be heard about ways to make their jobs better and more rewarding, so they feel recognized and appreciated."

"I would suggest explaining the scope of the work a little more in depth to applicants in the interviewing process. Had I not been privy to the work scope I would have truly been struggling and in fact I revamped recruiting material to address this issue"

"I suggest a more concentrated emphasis on community work in contrast to energy spent on legislator's and to increase the media interfacing within the confines of the position."
