What do you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?

"You truly are the world to some of these kids that have no good examples or role models in their life. Getting to see them grow and learn and building the relationships with them is gratifying."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Please go into the classrooms and see for yourself what you will be working with. When I started they played it up like they had so much technology and they had a lot of teacher resources, etc. Well, then I get my classroom and I have 3 computers, 2 that don't work and the one that does is a big box that is slower than a turtle!"

What don't you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?

"I do not like the fact that the leaders in the district jump on every bandwagon that comes by. We may start off the year focusing on one new program to implement, then 2 months later a grander, greater, and shinier program pops up, and all of a sudden all the work you did implementing that old program into your classroom is over, because now we are focusing on the new one. And we will be doing classroom observations next week and need to see it implemented. This is a REQUIREMENT.' How can you even see any student growth if you are just bouncing around through different programs It is senseless."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would actually communicate with my teachers, ask them what support they need. Ask them what would help them do their job better. I would focus on things that actually affect student learning instead of irrelavent and petty things such as teacher dress and other micro-managing things."

"lack of support from administration"

What do you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?

"I like helping children learn and motivating them to know they can be successful"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"do not apply here unless you have to; if you do, make sure you tour the school and watch the teachers actions-their actions will tell you a lot about the morale in the school; there are a few schools in the district with great principals who treat their staff members well, but most micromanage, bully, and have school leaders who do the same; that is why so many teachers left last year and more will leave at the end of this school year."

What don't you like about working at Aldine Independent School District?

"lack of support from administration; promotion based on WHO you know instead of WHAT you know; micromanagement; negativity"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"trust your teachers; create an environment with high morale; stop principals from yelling at teachers; use positive reinforcement; give everyone a fair chance at promotions; stop the brown nosing; stop the administrative level employees from looking down on othersFYI- abusing good teachers only hurt the children; if you're content with a continuous revolving door of teachers, then keep up the horrible job of managing that you're doing now"

"I worked for this district close to 20 yrs. It has changed but not for the best. They expect much for little pay. Not an equal opportunity employer. They don't treat lower level employees with respect. They don't give you what is needed to do your job."
