"Aetna was an OK place to work. They tend to hire mostly from Cognizant and Infosys. I felt I had a disadvantage while working there."

"The hiring process was quick for me. They wanted to get me in as soon as possible and when I did, I spent three months of doing absolutely nothing. It took me three months to get access to anything and it also took me three months to get my I.D. badge. Although I was okay with that, I was mostly not okay with the fact the my boss did not invest any time into me. I did all my training and online courses within the first two weeks and I sat down with people on my team maybe three times since I have been here. Going on four months now and I still am not doing anything. I constantly ask for help and ask for other things to do but my boss simply does not give me anything. I am fairly disappointed."

"Starting in March 2013, I hoped that my move to Aetna would have been a positive experience. It was initially very bland, training consisted of side by side observation and online courses. There was absolutely no interaction with anyone in the training department. Aetna makes a lot of hype about "The Aetna Way". Supposedly it is the organizational values. The Aetna way was mentioned during any corporate functions, but when an individual attempts to stand by those principals they are anywhere from looked down upon to being targeted for removal from the organization. In particular if it doesn't match with what the current leaders have implemented. Their intra-net is a complete spaghetti of old and new information inner connected in such a way that depending on what website you start on you may get a different answer to the same question, and no way to tell once you get the answer if it is the current resolution or not. Example: Searching for an answer on how to handle a complaint the result was to do a, b, c. So I did a, b, and c. 2 days later I was told that was incorrect, and that the complaint should have been taken to the manager for them to handle. So I referenced where I got the answer and advised that I understand the answer you provided, but how can we get the information updated so that no-one else creates the same error? That was supposedly one of the 'Aetna way' values. I was told that I had the answer and so that was all I needed to concern myself with. (Note: it never was corrected) The business has employees electronically sign literally tens of documents saying that the employee understands x or y. All of which provide Aetna ultimate deniability. The organization I supported cancelled their contract so I as moved to another team who happened to be in Portland Oregon. My first supervisor was accessible, encouraging, and she met with all of us every month. This new supervisor didn't meet with us on any type of schedule other than annually."

"Have been with this company long enough to say they request unethical requests on a regular basis. No management support, lack in training and slow response if any from upper management."

"I worked for Aetna/CHOC Health Alliance for nearly 7 years. I was satisfied working for them. I enjoyed having a good working rapport with my supervisors, our doctors, coworkers, and the liaison services. I remained there until the loss of contract happened and everyone lost their positions, effective 2/1/14."

"I've worked for Aetna for 6 years and have watched the company begin to transform itself from a healthcare company to one rooted in technology. This provides great opportunity for those within the technology sector. At the same time there are cultural challenges if you join the company form any other industry. Your experiences and ability to influence change are greatly diminished. It is also very limiting from a career growth perspective since there are few avenues for non-healthcare professionals."

"Worked 25 yrs in industry and this was worst experience of my life! Absent leadership was so focused on making deals working in other roles, no attention to current operations. Little to no training or leadership. Highly inappropriate behavior was tolerated. Looooong hrs, no work/life balance. Disorganized, hostile work environment. People are very busy clawing their way to the top The executive management that ran our location did not even bother moving to the state the plan operated in."
