"I've worked with AECOM for 10 years and the beginning years was a very pleasant experience. The past 2 years when we got a new CIO things went downhill. They laid off 1/3 of the IT Support and changed the overall system and after 2 years went to outsource the IT support."

"I have been working for AECOM for 8 years. The company provided opportunities to employees when it was good shape. However, the mis-management brought it to down time."

"Been at AECOM & Legacy 8 years. The staff at all levels on the "delivery" side are excellent, but their morale takes a constant beating from Corporate's annual setting of ridiculous growth targets (This year's doozy is a goal of a 25% increase in transportation wins!!!). Thus when we fail to hit them, they pillage current projects of funds by taking profit before work is done, or declare income on work not done, take profit from "option" work which when not awarded, leads to further cuts in funds. So the trumpeting by the board about ethics rings hollow. I'd recommend AECOM as a great place to a start and grow a career in engineering, but if you're senior you will learn nothing from the corporate managers, in Canada at least. They will break this company I believe."

"I worked for AECOM for over 8 years in the headquarters in Los Angeles. The day-to-day workings of the company are so thoroughly driven by corporate politics that my job became miserable. So much of our work was wasted in ill-conceived and inefficient endeavors that job satisfaction was universally low. As the pressure grew and we were asked to falsify time reporting it became morally unfeasible for me to continue my career there."

"Project controls in the Englewood office is terrible. The director is so unfair and he doesn't do anything to earn his money. No one respects him. He has his favorites who will never get laid off. Others he will lay off, bring back, and lay off again while his favorites sit around with no real work."

"AECOM is not a positive or inspiring place to work. It is filled with internal backstabbing at middle / senior management levels. The acquisition by AECOM ruined a good company like URS. AECOM focuses on who is at fault and CYA. They engage in business development practices that are questionable and designed to win work at a low price by cutting salaries and benefits of hourly workers. The CEO has a good vision but that doesn't find its way down to middle management and employees that do the work. The result is a negative and lifeless place to work."

"I worked for a company that was acquired by AECOM a few years ago. They (AECOM) said the opportunities would improve, but I haven't seen that yet. A number of long-time employees, and friends, left soon after the merger. The project management and reporting systems are not user friendly. I don't feel like I have much in common with my co-workers, and I am sometimes without work because I "make too much" for some projects, but trying to get away from my manager has been tough. I am treated like I am "on call", and my manager doesn't want to let me do anything else. I had to go over his head to get on the project I am on now. Once this ends, I really fear for my future due to possible lack of billability. At least in my home office, teleworking is allowed. This company doesn't seem to be too fond of transferring existing employees to other projects where there is a good skill fit. The pay is so-so, although I have heard of some low-ball offers. AECOM stripped away one of our holidays and capped how much paid time off is allowed to be accumulated and refuses to pay out hours as the old company would. The 401(k) is better than what we had before in terms of fees and selection of investments."

"My experience with AECOM made me lose faith in fairness and equality in corporate America. Growing up in a foreign company, I was taught that a job is extremely important and you give your all. This I did. My job came to define me. I took great pleasure in thinking that I was adding value and helping my employer succeed. This dedication sadly was seemingly not appreciated by all, and soon there was little to no feedback between my supervisor and me. My health suffered, relationships failed and my home life was neglected. I continued to work to deliver because I was afraid to fail, make mistakes or be laid off. But despite it all, on October 10, 2018, I was laid off under the claim that the position had been eliminated for lack of enough work. This story changed later to poor performance, which to this day I will never agree with. My wish for AECOM is to change its approach to recognizing issues when reported. Do not immediately favor management because management is not always right. Take the extra steps to truly understand issues brought up, and diverse personalities. This company prides itself on embracing diversity, but I did not see that practiced in my case. For those thinking of interviewing with AECOM, set firm boundaries that protect work-life balance. I am thankful for the opportunity to exercise my right to freedom of expression/speech by sharing my experience at AECOM. My story, while a painful one, is hopeful because I've grown to develop a new appreciation for life, regained a sense of self-worth and a desire for a healthy work dynamic/environment. My experience with a new company has begun to re-instill in me the belief that not all of corporate America is unfair. There are companies out there that truly embody what fairness and equality are while embracing and appreciating diversity. I'm hoping that my experience and my story will be a learning opportunity for AECOM and its employees."
