PepsiCo recently reported that 90 percent of folks who clicked through their job-related emails did so using a smartphone.
“Instead of job hunting at home, people were doing so while standing in line at a restaurant or even sitting on a couch while watching the game,” CNN reports.
To adapt to this trend, last month, PepsiCo rolled out a brand new mobile-friendly career site that even allows you to apply to their jobs straight from your phone.
If you’re not making your phone work for you during your job hunt, you’re missing out! There are so many new apps popping up to help you job search on the go—even if your favorite companies haven’t created mobile-friendly job ads.
Mobile apps can help you stay on top of your job search skills on the go in several areas:
SnapDat is a digital business card exchange service—with style. The app allows you to get really creative when you’re exchanging your virtual business card. You can: Send and receive contact info and choose a personalized design and style.
If you haven’t downloaded LinkedIn Mobile, it’s definitely worth it. The app is beautifully designed and is great not only to stay connected, send messages and look up jobs but also learn more about your industry via ‘LinkedIn Today.’
And if you have a Galaxy S5, even better! LinkedIn and Samsung worked together to make your LinkedIn experience seamless by syncing contacts from your email and calendar.
This cool app lets you save all of your basic info (name, education and all that jazz), to a single Passport so that you don’t have to keep filling out the same info more than once in a job application.
Worth trying out!
Yes, you guessed it: Pocket Resume lets you create and send resume straight from your iPhone. Be careful: Make sure you take the time to triple check your resume. Mobile’s great for being proactive and fast, but can make you more prone to mistakes. The pro version has some great reviews.
The next time you’re in line at the Costco gas station, pull out your JobJuice app and start quizzing yourself with great interview questions! There’s a paid version for those of you who want to take your interview game to the next level.
