"Accuray has one of the best radiation therapy technology in the world. The robot can treat tumor with very high precision. For many brain and spine tumor, Cyberknife is the only solution to treat with no risk of damaging healthy cells. The company is going to a better direction than before, the company culture is shifting to more customer focus and is building a good culture of working as a team."

"Engineering department has little ability to do original product development due to inept leadership, ignorance and laziness. Basic design mistakes were glossed over or ignored. Overbearing, rude and openly hostile managers. One manager was vocally anti-veteran. The firm relies on vendors, outside consultants and in-house contractors to get anything done. It is an embarrassment to have worked there and a shame that such great technology is buried by an organization like this."

What do you like about working at Accuray?

"Money was good, but hours are very long with many overnighters.Get to work with some very new and interesting technology.They used to have some extremely smart people working there."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Find somewhere else. I don't think they will be around very long.Competition has caught up to fast.Machine is to costly to purchase, service & install."

What don't you like about working at Accuray?

"Management team in place now is horrible!!! They hire friends & family ahead of talent. They tell big lies about all the overtime you will get so they can lower your salary, then they start making you shift your hours & days to fit whatever schedule your customer has. The machine is the most unreliable machine I have ever worked with. Many customers are down for days at a time. The up-time numbers are a complete farce because the FE's report them and can make them anything they want. Tech support is nonexistent. Most tech support people have less then 6 mt's experience, because it is not a well liked position and most people transfer within a year of excepting the job. Diagnostics are terrible. Machine needs a massive amount of AC ( 5 ton's ) and lots of ventilation. Machine also needs extremely clean power to function properly. These things drive up the cost so they are not mentioned to loudly which ends up making the machine even more unreliable. The DOA rate is huge on many parts. They have had many recent failures in R&D."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Service management needs to be replaced completely. Hire people based on talent not friendship. Make machine more reliable. More decisions need to be made in the field. Less control from corporate. More money in R&D to get their competitive edge back. Take a good look at Engineering dept. There has been a lot of long term projects fail."
