Account representatives serve as the middle men between a company and its important clients. They are usually handed a number of different accounts by the company. Their job is then to make sure that all goes smoothly with transactions between the company and the customer. If the customer has any problems, they might come to the account representative.
Skillset: An account representative is always willing and ready to deal with problems. This person will be outgoing and patient. They will also have a strong ability to communicate on both ends. Because they have to communicate both with the client and with the company, they should be well versed in verbal communication skills.
Education: An account representative will do best if he or she has studied marketing or sales before taking the job. This industry does not require a person to have a certain educational background, though.
Career Path: An account representative might be able to land that job right out of school if they are lucky. In order to make yourself more marketable, you might want to take on an internship or work during college. This can give you a leg up on students who do not have any relevant experience.
