"the near lack of opportunity for advancement and multiple lay offs these past few years"

"The professional attitude of the people and the management made it enjoyable to work through the details of the project."

"This operation uses 2 or 3 different sets of standards. It is not easy to understand which of the documents apply to this project."

What don't you like about working at Weyerhaeuser?

"The lack of input from my manager on current and planned changes caused me to have to rework portions of the package several times. I felt like I was too insulated from the scope changes that were made in the middle of the design process. They are using AutoCAD as a drawing system, but not taking advantage of the functions that are built in to AutCAD to coordinate the disciplines. Questions about the design standards were often responded to with That is a good question. not a clear answer that I could use."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest they embrace the power of the AutoCAD system to improve the quality of the stored information for each and every plant that they modify. That way one would not have to search through old drawings to find out if any information about the location or installation details could be found. I also think that they could do a better job of controlling changes to the scope of work. Several changes never made it through the release process but were part of the final design."

"Good benefits, competitive salary, fairly laid-back atmosphere, and that's about all."

"If you are a male - Carry on, you'll get far. If you are a female - Move on. You have no chance."

What don't you like about working at Weyerhaeuser?

"I work with dinosaurs. Like I stated before - it's time to move into the 21st century. Technology is passing us by in the workplace and the people who work here are too closeminded to want to learn how to use a computer. This isn't the good old days. Get with the program. The good ole boy mentality needs to disappear."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get up to speed with technology, root out the old folks and the members of the good ole boys club and hand them early retirement. It's time to wake up it's 2012 not 1965."

"The people and the ability to work independantly and remotely."

"Be open and honest. Relax and present a business casual appearance."

"Promotions and retainalbility were based on who you knew more than what you knew and how you performed."

"Value experience! Inexperience, youth and low salaries will eventually erode the company."
