United States Gypsum (USG) is a world leader in the manufacture of gypsum wallboard, joint compound and a host of building- and remodeling-related products. Founded in 1902 from the merger of 30 gypsum rock and plaster companies, USG quickly gained a market presence across North America. Expanding into mining in the 1940s and 1950s, USG was well-positioned to take advantage of the post-World War II housing boom.

USG has its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to wallboard, the company produces suspension ceilings, acoustic panels, sealants, flooring and plasters for a global market.
