4.1I have been a lecturer in mathematics at UCI since January 2018, but recent cuts in funding as a result of the COVID-19 have resulted in layoffs. Thus, my contract there will not be renewed. I have worked previously in the aerospace industry and am skilled in a variety of engineering, mathematical, and information technologies. I enjoy development and implementation of algorithms for systems ranging from space communication to biological studies and have developed software and firmware for a broad spectrum of applications. I also seem proficient at testing and debugging software and hardware. My response to the company CEO was based on previous aerospace employment since it is not really applicable at the university.
4.4I worked for the UCI Rocket Project for about 9 months while attending the University of California, Irvine to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. The project consisted of over 40 undergraduate students and was led by a professor in the mechanical and aerospace engineering department. During my time in the project, we built and tested the largest liquid bi-propellant rocket engine developed by undergraduate students. The UCI Rocket Project provides students with invaluable experience in engineering projects by allowing students to gain hands on experience in conducting performance tests, designing and developing launch vehicles, and creating procedures and documentation.
I was a manager and worked with other managers. I learned from them, implemented what I think was right to my own employees. I suggested to others new tactics to achieve the most efficient outcomes especially when dealing with such a large group of people as needed.
