Founded in 1976 and allied with Marshall’s, TJ Maxx forms The MarMaxx group, the largest retailer of off-price apparel and home fashions in the United States. They offer an ever-changing product line of brand-name family clothing, home décor, and other merchandise. TJ Maxx differs from Marshall’s by offering a large assortment of jewelry and accessories.
In 1956, Zayre Corp was founded, Stanley Feldberg serving as president, a role he continued until 1978. He then served on the Board of Directors until his retirement in 1989. The company soon sold off the “Zayre” name, leaving their sole store brand, TJ Maxx. In 1990, TJ Maxx debuted as an additional store brand and also went international, entering the Canadian market by obtaining the Winners chain. In 1992, the third brand, Homegoods, was launched in the US. 1994 found TK Maxx being founded in the United Kingdom and expanding into Ireland. Marshall’s joined the group in 1995, later becoming consolidated with the TJ Maxx name as The MarMaxx Group.
