"Yes, every day was a different one. I have donned multiple hats at work - developer, tester, Python mentor, audience, customer, it is interesting! I cant say I hate but I do get carried away with work sometimes and work long hours. I like having a balanced lifestyle and I need to work on it."

"I believe I started out loving this field more than I do now. I have been working as a Software Development Engineer since 1990 so I may be a bit burnt out or jaded. It is a field where if programming is not your hobby as well as your job, you are going to fall behind. I never thought that I would be in a field where if I didn't live, breathe, and eat programming I would be passed by. I am currently in a job search following an eight and a half year run at Microsoft and I do not like what I see. If you do not have a particular skill that a company is looking for, they completely disregard you. You must be an expert in what they want or they show you the door. Forget past accomplishments, work ethic, loyalty, people skills, or the fact that I am not a flake. All they want is a cog that they can plug in to their machine. What originally attracted me to the field was the creativity of being able to get a machine to do what you wanted it to. I still love this about the industry. Developing code is a very creative process. You are actually building something. What puts a damper on all this is speed at which we have to work these days. It has become a factory. It was much more pleasant years ago. It has become a bit of a sweat shop now."
