"I loved being a retail manager. Beside the responsibilities and the feeling of accomplishment when one of my decisions resulted in revenue savings or sales increase."

"The product and the people are really good. The support you get is NIL and they are using 20 year old systems that don't talk well with each other."

Retail Store Manager at T-Mobile
in Snellville, GA

"I love being able to develop and promote talent. I also love seeing satisfied customers and building my customer base through strong referrals. However, there is not much room for professional growth beyond staying in the four walls of a retail store. I also find that there is little room for innovative moves in the store as you must follow action plans set by regional leadership with little to no room for change. It is a very high stress position without appropriate compensation."

Retail Store Manager at National Vision
in Lakewood, CO

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"A great introductory enviroment into the optical business. ."

What do you like about working at National Vision?

"I enjoy the challenge of learning the optical industry, working with patients and a doctor, and driving sales based upon helping people to see better and finding what is best for their lives."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be confident in behavior based sales, and management techniques. How to drive sales by the behaviors that you display, with integrity and being more of a consultant then a sales person."

What don't you like about working at National Vision?

"I think that the company focuses on the wrong things in terms of how to drive sales and how to motivate the employees to perform at their best. I think that the technology being used is outdated and needs to be updated for the sake of our stores and customer impressions."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would say that the focus on budget and sales, while important, is focusing too much on results and not how we get there. The focus should be on measurable indicators that would lead to the success towards budget and sales goals."

Retail Store Manager at The UPS Store
in Chelmsford, MA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"The UPS Store taught me everything I now know about customer service."

What do you like about working at The UPS Store?

"The people I worked with could not have been a better group. Also, the owner of the store could not have been a nicer person."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The owner is very nice. Just do exactly what he wants and how he wants it done. Be professional 100% of the time."

What don't you like about working at The UPS Store?

"The way it ended was very abrupt. The person that took the store over did not see eye to eye with me on how the store was being run for the last 3 years, so he decided to bring in his son for store manager."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Do what I was doing. I was attending networking groups weekly and after the first year the stores profit margin went up almost 75%."

Retail Store Manager at AT&T
in Harwood Heights, IL

What do you like about working at AT&T?

"In many ways, AT&T is leading the way retail is being done. As employees, we get to work with some of the best products in the industry."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Hard work is the best thing you can have, but you also have to be willing to move to different markets to advance quickly. AT&T isn't a bad company to work for - it's stable and is a leader in the wireless industry. Truth be told, the whole wireless industry is going through a correction. Pay is not as good, the industry is more competitive than ever, and the whole situation is projected to get worse. If you don't mind working harder each year just to take home less, then this is the place for you."

What don't you like about working at AT&T?

"Goals each month are never attainable. Each year results in more work for less money."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"A lot of our back-end systems on the wireline side of the business are older than I am. This means that placing orders for customers is a lot of work, and that getting timely installs is difficult. The company as a whole has been working for several years to upgrade and create this one AT&T, but I've been here for 5 years and not much has changed."
