Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is a private university and research center in Troy, New York, a Capital District city in New York’s growing Tech Valley. The Institute has an enrollment of approximately 7,000 students drawn from all 50 states and 92 countries. RPI continually ranks in U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Top 50 Universities” listing.

Founded in 1824 as a school of science and civil engineering by Stephen Van Renssselaer, it is the oldest polytechnic university in the United States. Undergraduate and graduate degree programs include biotechnology, information technology, engineering, architecture and management technology.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Job Information

The institute employs nearly 500 full-time and part-time instructional faculty and close to 1,500 support staff. Of the full-time instructional faculty, 98 percent hold doctorate or other terminal degrees.

RPI offers a technologically advanced work environment, competitive compensation and an extensive benefits package that includes professional development programs and continuing educational opportunities. The Institute will pay 80 percent of tuition costs for the dependent children of any employee with three years of continuous, full-time service.
