"Pros- Work-life balance is strong depending on the department for which you work- Working for a mission-based organization provides a sense of something greater- You get to work with awesome content created by explorers, journalists, photographers Cons- NG is going through organizational change. This can be stressful and disruptive- Some managers are not transparent- The environment can be VERY dictatorial/top-down -- leaving some people afraid to speak up"

What do you like about working at National Geographic Society?

"I absolutely loved working for NGS. I felt so proud each time someone would ask me who I worked for. The society has a purpose that all who works there should be not only proud to be working there, but also motivated and encourage others to care about our planet. I worked many long hours and weekends, but nothing could stop me! I knew I was doing the best job I could do and in return, I was filled inside with knowing I was making a difference. It taught me why we need to all work so hard to save our planet and all of the endangered species that live among us - not just that we should, but why we should. You teach our children to work towards a better environment for their children to come, and those that follow even after that. I had a real sense of purpose and self worth. Thank you so much for the experience. I will cherish it forever."
