"Great company to work for."
"I worked at Mattress Firm from November, 2017 to the end of April 2020. Although the company is currently experiencing downsizing, I would recommend it as a place to work as executive management seeks to develop team members to maximize their ability as well as branch out and add additional expertise to individual portfolios. It is an innovative company that makes selling mattresses exciting."
"Great job, minimum flexibility with your personal life"
"I've worked for Mattress Firm Corp HQ for nearly 17 months. The company has the potential, but it's overshadowed by nepotism, burdened by politics and damaged by inter-department separation. The company claims to value honesty, ethics & feedback but blacklist you if you ask too many questions. If you value real, ethical sales then this is not the company for you."
"I have been with Mattress Firm for the last year, and although I do believe it is a great company I would like more growth in an organization. You have the pleasure of helping individuals or families improve their quality of life just by helping them select the perfect sleeping solution. It is slow but I would use this time to read and develop my leadership and selling skills. The only negative is at times you can lose commission on the mistake of deliveries or product not being transferred in a timely manner."
"I work for a great company but lake of communication"
"I worked for Mattress Firm for three years. The job is simple, however you are expected to meet expectations. Company has very high standards and most of the time the job is low stress. Great place to work."
"Like any retail expect to spend long hours in store as well as working weekends and holidays. The work-life balance is awful. Pay is hourly unless you hit bonus. Once you hit bonus then you don't receive hourly pay with the exception of non-store hour events - which occur probably 3 times a year (where it is a meeting that must last a minimum of 4 hours) and held at a location off site."
"Worked there for 12 years and have loved my time with the organization."
"I have work in Mattress Firm since 2017. They have great benefits but you need to work a lot of hours if you are working in the retail department. My experience is that this job is not for everyone because you need to have very strong mindset (emotional intelligence) since you might be by yourself all the time."
"I've worked for Mattress Firm for 4 years now. It can be a rewarding career, where ultimately you get out of it, what you put into it. Overall positive experience."
"I've worked at mattress firm for 8 years and a lot has changed. When I started this was an amazing place to work, but due to an enormous amount of corporate corruption, bad promotions, and generally poor business practices it has become a bottom of the barrel retailer to work for. Actual job experience, work history, and business skills are secondary when it comes to promotions. It truly is about who you know, hence why the company has seen such a downward spiral; there are too many inexperienced "managers" and not enough business people and managers in key roles. Pros * You can earn a decent income. * It's decent sales training. * There's a great team and work environment. Cons * No yearly pay raises or compensation to tenured employees; basically, once things go south there is no reason to stay. * Benefits keep getting worse and worse every year. * Work-life balance is a joke--and hold your horses--it's about to get much worse, as the company believes the solution to its economic woes is moving to--you guessed it--12 hour days. * As stated very little advancement opportunity. 99% of all employees will not be considered for advancement beyond the sales floor, just remember that. * Staff turnover, every two years I seem to see 80% new faces, it's gotten to be old and a joke. * Lack of useful advanced sales training for store sales associates. * Area manager position is a complete joke and waste of time."
"When I started, the district I was in was ran by one of the best managers I knew with a strong area manager leadership team. However as of late the area managers aren't doing their job and company morale is at a low. The district manager is very immature and I can no longer get any further."
"Mattress Firm has had tremendous growth since I started with the company in 2009. We went from a privately owned 400 store chain to a publicly traded corporation with over 1200 locations. During my time with the company I've received an immeasurable amount of training not only to do my immediate job well, but career advancement training as well.Mattress Firm is a company I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to make a career."
"Wonderful Experience, great staff, needed technological upgrading,"

"Great company with good opportunity. Due to software issues, anticipate 12-18 hour work days."
What don't you like about working at Mattress Firm?
"They were in dire need of technological upgrading and much of their reporting, accounting and financial operations were driven by old out of date (8 version out of date to be exact) point of sale system and in ineffective implementation of an ERP system which, in effect, make the process longer for financial reporting and placed an over burdensome amount on Microsoft excel."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Really the technology aspect was the biggest and most pervasive issue."
