Marriott opened its first hotel in Arlington, VA, which is their longest operating hotel. The company has over 3,400 properties worldwide. They operate in a total of 68 countries. Marriott has also introduced tow theme parks to the public, called Marriott’s Great America. These lasted up until 1984 when they sold the parks: one park to Six Flags and the other park to Paramount Parks. The company owns many brands including Renaissance Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, BULGARI Hotels and Resorts, and Edition Hotels just to name a few.
