What do you like about working at Macy's?

"Co-workers, managers. Hour lunch. I like meeting the customers and making connections that lead to sales."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Know what department you want to work in and make them an offer. Negotiate from there. Be prepared to answer questions about Sales and Customer Service."

What don't you like about working at Macy's?

"I don't get paid very much - can barely pay my bills as it is so, letting me schedule my own lunch and breaks is a real plus. I work hard and I'm very good at what I do so there's no need for anyone to micromanage me. I get irritated when other associates don't wait on customers or walk away from their cash register to buy a bottle of water in the breakroom while customers wait."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It's a giant department store with many employees but I would try to treat them the way I think they prefer. I treat my customers with interest, kindness, integrity and with a heart to be in service to them. A hire is supposed to mean finding a good 'fit' so, to be treated as if it does not really matter whether you are there or not is a little bit sad. I would also do my best to arrange for my employees to be paid a competitive, living wage. This and 7.75 per hour at 16 hours a week is an act of graciousness on my part. I wish I felt valued more."

"My inability to clock in and out or use registers due to a problem with my PIN number that was never corrected."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"At least give an overview of the department and how things run to seasonal employees so that things run smoother on the sales floor."
