Lincare Careers & Info

Current CEO: Crispin Teufel

Status: Active

Lincare is a thriving medical supply business that started with oxygen system sales in 1965. They currently have about 10,000 employees. The headquarters is in Clearwater, Florida; however, it has as many as 1,000 locations in the lower 48 states. They provide services that allow patients to remain at home instead of an expensive hospital or nursing home setting.

Lincare careers require diverse skills. For this reason, Lincare has a very busy human resources department. It must maintain a full staff in every location. Location positions include caregivers such as medical nutrition specialists and health care specialists. Other staff positions include sales representatives, customer service representatives and service representatives. Each center has a manager and assistant manager. To maintain these positions, Lincare also hires experts in accounting and information systems. As major equipment providers, Lincare has many employees that deal with purchasing, acquisitions and accounts payable. To assist with sales, many employees work in marketing or business development.

Many employees say that working at Lincare is fulfilling. These employees work with many different patients, taking care of their needs, helping them with daily living and increasing their independence. Those who must be on-call find that this can be draining on personal lives, but fortunately employees are not on-call every day. Their work is critical because they provide oxygen, respiratory, infusion and other daily medical services to homebound patients. Also, many employees say that they enjoy working with hospitals and doctors, who, in turn, appreciate Lincare’s services.

Many sales representatives enjoy the personal independence of working in the field and setting their own schedule. On the other hand, many sales personnel feel that they are overburdened and underpaid.

Management seems to be the key to the Lincare culture, and where there are good managers, employees are happiest. In many cases, employees are able to enjoy a casual dress code. Corporate headquarters is more formal. A center can be a fun place to work if everyone is pulling together, according to many employees. Call centers can be difficult work environments, especially if managers don’t allow flextime or deny breaks.

Lincare benefits are comparable to many corporations. Lincare offers medical, dental and vision health care coverage. The company offers a 401K for retirement savings. Some tuition reimbursement is available for those who qualify. The average employee gets ten paid holidays plus two weeks’ vacation. There are also options for stock purchase.
