"Just be completely honest with everyone. If you do not know something or are not sure on how to do something, be honest and admit it, as you cannot save the ship if you do not know how to plug a hole."

"Sometimes there is not a clear decision-making process, and sometimes there is no teamwork with the superintendents and the construction managers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The superintendents need to work as a team with the construction managers, and not work against us."

"I dislike too many controls and red tape when it comes to new policies."

"They need some new blood in the ranks; it's a new age of construction."

"Look around and make sure the salary is what you're looking for. It is a good company and I do enjoy working here; my only beef is the low pay/salary."

"I don't like the salary. I don't like the fact that we are told that we are not busy when the boss rarely gets to see what we actually get done and what we actually have to do from day to day. They don't really have a clue."

"Recognize all that we do. Pay accordingly. Easy enough Perform functions where our home base is located. They have entire teams, whereas here we have two employees."

"KBR is a great company to work for. Potential employees should have a good understanding of their job requirements and expect change once hired."

"As with most companies, politics in the workplace is discouraging, but the lack of key personnel in critical positions was the biggest challenge."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Selection of candidates for key positions should be according to their skill sets and not their affiliation with organizations or current employees. A weak link in a key management position has a cascading downstream effect. Communication within management could also be improved to increase efficiency and effectiveness."

"I would keep the clients away from the engineers/developers and force them to work through a filter/liaison."

"Some coworkers outside of my team are very difficult, promotions are very rare, and there is little innovation."

"Focus more on IT, sales, and proposals; have better employee benefits."

"I enjoy my specific project. I have had the opportunity to use my creativity and knowledge to create a computer system like no other in our industry."

"It is a good place to make a decent wage and gather experience. Use it as a stepping stone to a rewarding career - somewhere else!"

What don't you like about working at KBR?

"The corporate culture, sub-par pay, and lack of respect by management to employees is unbearable. The structure here is such that only those with connections are promoted, while everyone is endlessly moved laterally. Management shows a clear disdain for subordinates and regards all employees as insignificant worker bees. People outside of management or without connections are treated with the same regard as a copier or computer. You are a resource, not a person. I have had several managers tell me, Everyone can be replaced."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would make sure my company had a culture which rewards talent, dedication, hard work, and results. People would rise in the ranks based on performance and the value brought to the company. In addition, I would dissolve the rampant nepotism that plagues KBR."

"My superviser and I work very well together and I enjoy the people whom I work with."

"Ask about the rate of turnover. Consider other companies in the market and the amount of client companies they are working with in their immediate market, as well the relationship that they have with them."

"My company has experienced a massive turnover, which I have survived, but the future is unsure."

"My suggestions for management are: creating unity among teams, short-term goal setting and achievement opportunities, and stronger communication."
