Most technical specialists will spend their day engaged in troubleshooting and problem solving.
Skillsets: Technical specialists will need to have extensive knowledge of whatever systems and devices they are supporting. Additionally, they will need critical thinking and problem solving skills to help them resolve day to day issues.
Education: Most employers prefer that technical specialists have a four-year degree in the field that they are working in, such as a Computer Science degree or a Mechanical Engineering degree. However, attending a vocational school or having 2 to 4 years of appropriate experience will also enable people to find employment in this field.
Career Path: Technical specialists should study the systems that they are going to be providing support for, including how they are built and how to fix problems with them. They will also need to be able to explain in layman's terms how these systems work to provide appropriate assistance and make recommendations.
