Training should cover network security, switching and routing, network media, devices, and types, troubleshooting, network operation and installation of software.
Career Path: Some lower-level employment opportunities in network engineering are available with a certificate or associate's degree. However, the majority of the higher paying positions require a bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science. Because you will be required to regularly test, maintain and monitor the tools and software related to computer networks you will need to seek continuing education programs as much and as often as possible. As you gain useful experience in trouble shooting, network security and information delivery you will be well equipped to move into higher paying positions.
