Instructors provide classroom education or hands-on, work-related instruction in a place of business. During a typical day, an instructor may prepare material for students, create a study guide or homework plan and teach several different courses or classes. Instructors may also work closely with students to ensure students fully understand the material being taught and are able to apply it to work or life situations with practical application methods.
Skillset: Instructors have an ability to communicate well and to teach using visual and verbal methods. Instructing as a profession requires a commitment to learn a craft or area of study and to teach others in an effective way using excellent communication skills, positive reinforcement and by creating helpful materials that are easy to follow.
Education: Many instructors carry degrees that range from bachelors to masters degrees. Vocational technical degrees are also appropriate for instructors who are teaching mechanical, basic office instruction or electrical instruction. The types of degrees that are beneficial to an instructor will be dependent on the type of material the person is teaching.
Career Path: The foundation of an instructor is based on great communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the material being taught.
