Instructor position in the School of Biological Sciences, at Louisiana Tech University. This is a nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position (90% instruction/advising and 10% service). Position requires an earned M.S. degree in Biology or closely related field, and familiarity with common laboratory equipment and procedures associated with microbiology teaching laboratories. Prior teaching and/or laboratory experience is desired.

Position is available September 1, 2024. The person filling this position will be the instructor of record for sections of both BISC 209 (Survey of Microbiology Laboratory) and BISC 262 (Microbiology Laboratory) each quarter. BISC 209 is offered for non-Biology majors, whereas BISC 262 is offered for Biology majors. In addition to BISC 209 and BISC 262, this position may also teach the non-Biology majors lecture course, BISC 208 (Survey of Microbiology), or other courses aligned with the candidate's area of expertise. This position will oversee laboratory set-up and take-down, order laboratory supplies, and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents. This position will also have management responsibilities including ordering, inventory, and preparation of media and reagents for the laboratory courses. It is anticipated that a Graduate Assistant(s) and possibly undergraduate student laboratory assistants will be available to assist with preparation and breakdown of the laboratory resources for both BISC 209 and BISC 262. In addition, this position will also contribute to academic advising of undergraduate students in our School of Biological Sciences.

Our School is a dynamic, collegial unit with 25 faculty and approximately 570 undergraduate and 20 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.).
