The instructor is responsible to the Dean and the Department Chair for carrying out his/her assigned instructional tasks. The instructor shall perform such other duties as assigned by the Department Chair when approved by the Dean of the Business, Applied Technology and Industry Division.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Biology, or a closely related field with at least 27 graduate quarter or 18 semester hours in Biology or Microbiology, plus teaching experience in classroom and laboratory microbiology.

Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Physical ability to operate technical electronic/electrical equipment. Sufficient hand/arm and finger dexterity to operate equipment. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking skills to communicate with staff and students, requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and operate lab equipment.

Work is performed in college instrumentation lab and classroom with moderate exposure to safety or health hazards.

Requires the ability to work with staff and students.

Essential Duties:

Instruct classes in General Microbiology.

Provide individual over-the-shoulder instruction.

Grading and assessment of student written and lab work.

Responsible to maintain equipment and facilities.

Work in alignment with the college's strategic goals, values, core themes, and vision.

Communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities.

Deliver appropriate related safety related instruction.

Perform other duties as needed.
