Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Obtain Class B CDL and with P and S endorsements within 90 days of employment
  • Obtain Texas School Bus Driver Training Certificate within 90 days of employment
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy
  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving and/or automotive parts sales experience
  • Basic knowledge of light and heavy duty part types and descriptions
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel and Outlook email

Primary Purpose:
  • Procure and issue parts to mechanics
  • Requisition non-inventory parts when requested
  • Process requisitions to obtain purchase orders when required
  • Assist the Shop Foreman or Parts Foreman/Lead in any capacity needed to help maintain Parts and Fleet Department efficiency

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Issue parts to mechanics
  • Provide customer service to requesting transportation department employees
  • Order non inventory parts as needed
  • Insure all parts leaving the parts room are charged out to the proper work order
  • Place and receive inventory orders
  • Assist Parts Foreman/Lead in periodic inventory cycle counts
  • Assist in conducting end of year 100% inventory count
  • Pickup parts from vendors when required
  • Help to maintain up to date vendor status and contact information
  • Possess working knowledge of parts manuals and online parts manuals when provided by vendors
  • Process paper work in accordance with the Parts Department operation guidelines
  • File paper work, including work orders and purchase orders
  • Issue supply items to drivers and other transportation staff daily
  • Maintain the parts room office/warehouse in a clean and organized state
  • Monitor parts warranty claims and return credits and communicate with Parts Lead/Foreman on warranty/credit progress or needs
  • Assist with scheduling of propane and diesel fuel drops when the Parts Foreman/Lead are not available and monitor needed fuel island repairs
  • Transport students on school bus when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Transportation Fleet Manager

Equipment Used:
  • Computer/Office Equipment
  • Forklift, Pallet Jack and 2- wheel dolly
  • Drive District vehicles
