JOBSUMMARY:
Saginaw Valley StateUniversity is seeking an exceptional Research Scientist to support research anddevelopment projects that require advanced neuroscience and neurotechnologydevelopment to improve human performance enhancement. Ideal candidates willhave a proven track record of significant contributions to advanced researchand development programs, and expertise in overseeing student/resident researchand managing scientific labs. Projects will focus on both biomedical scienceresearch and translational research.

ESSENTIALDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively drive the selection and discovery of novel projects that focus on neuroscience research.
  • Execute projects through development of experimental designs, critical analysis, and interpretation of results and communication of results promptly.
  • Collaborate with faculty from across campus with interests in biomedical and clinical/translational neuroscience.
  • Identify collaborative research partners to advance research projects in neuroscience research.
  • Provide supervision to research fellows and other lab staff; mentor undergraduate research students, engage in their training and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD degree in relevant field with major coursework in the field of neuroscience.
  • Five (5) years research experience in field of neuroscience; two (2) or more years at level of senior research associate or equivalent is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of neuroscience, CNS disease and therapeutic modalities.
  • Extensive bench research experience and ability to thrive in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with tissue processing, embedding and microtomy of brain tissues, fixation, and immunohistochemistry preferred.
  • Track record of analyzing opportunities and developing proposals for submission for research grant funding is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a drive to partner effectively with internal/external collaborators.
  • Strong organizational skills that enable multitasking and working within timelines.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
