Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Associate Mental Health Counselor works with clients to help them overcome and manage different mental and emotional challenges by providing therapeutic sessions and psychoeducation on diagnostic impressions. The Associate Mental Health Counselor will work under direct supervision of a LCSW, LPC or LMFT to provide clinical services in the area of individual, couples, and family.

A summary of duties includes assessing clients for service, providing provisional diagnostic impressions, providing therapeutic sessions, building treatment plans and coping strategies for the patient to follow.

PRINCIPAL ACCOU NTABILITIES:

Clinician will be asked to complete any one or more of the following assignments under clinical supervision:
  • Assessments: designed to determine the mental health needs of the individual, couple, and/or family and to recommend a course of action.
  • Individual Therapy:
  • Family Therapy
  • Couples Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Provide a minimum of 20 sessions/assessments per week.

COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent electronically clinical or medical record (ECR/EMR) ability.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills as evidenced by meeting deadlines, following through on assignments, delivering high quality products, and providing adequate time for consensus-building, especially review, feedback and approval.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and in concert with other staff and supervisors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Systems: Understanding of the Bio-Psychosocial Approach, Engagement and Advocacy.
  • Professionalism: Understanding of Diversity, Boundaries, Ethics, Self-assessment and Self care
  • Relationships: Demonstrates Inter-professionalism-can work in a team environment, build rapport with clients.
  • Application: Assessment and Intervention skills, Treatment Planning, as well as Practice Management i.e., uses time well, consistent/quality documentation, etc.
  • Education: Understanding of how to incorporate theories and clinical models

Qualifications

Associate clinicians at minimum are required to have a master's degree in one of the behavioral or social sciences that is primarily psychological in nature. These degrees include Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family and other behavioral/social science degree(s) that can be approved for clinical licensing as well as approved by the Company.
  • Staff member shall be licensed as an associate counselor or social worker by the state of Georgia in one of the approved behavioral or social sciences master's degrees.
  • Social worker or associate counselor may have an associate license to provide clinical services with an agreed upon plan that includes a time frame of when a full license shall be obtained.

The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes a benefits package with medical, dental, vision. Vacation and sick leave, a generous holiday schedule and a 401 (K) retirement plan with organization match after 1 year of employment.
