Overview
The Data Engineer will join an AE Strategies team supporting our client by developing data ingestion pipelines and data management strategies for data from various sources (e.g., spreadsheets, PDFs). The support will include working directly with stakeholders, clients, and subject matter experts to evaluate the current state of available systems and propose and develop modifications as necessary. The Data Engineer will support end-to-end data management needs, including standardization, automation (where possible), and validation. The Data Engineer will work within the client’s Data Architecture framework and adhere to the client’s Data Governance policies to deliver complete products, including:
- Data wrangling – join and clean disparate datasets by common fields to leverage augmented connections allowing for more accurate and impactful insights.
- Data transformation – manage data types with appropriate conversions and techniques.
- Data meta-analysis – develop and evaluate tools to summarize and validate data products.
- Data automation – to the extent possible, develop automated processes and routines for repetitive tasks, including data ingest from batches of data delivered in PDFs.
- Data process documentation – establish and memorialize methodological standards for the client to replicate for long-term use and sustainment.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with data scraping tools. Experience with R or Python is required; experience with other programming languages (e.g., C++) is a plus.
- Fluency with the data engineering process from beginning to end is required (e.g., ETL).
- Expertise in communicating processes and results to an audience with no or limited data engineering familiarity.
- Experience developing visualization products/tools, reports, and presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive federal background check.
