Job Description

As a National Elevator Manager you’re passionate about setting our overall Elevator strategy and implementation in order to optimize the performance of our Elevator assets nationally. You take pride in partnering with Field Operations, vendors and lead project management of minor and major renovations. Additionally, you will respond to emergency repairs, property damage, equipment obsolescence and routine wear and tear of elevators across the country. Your leadership, technical skills and high energy “can do” outlook gives you the edge in successfully managing your portfolio and executing company strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership in the management of Elevator assets for our entire portfolio including active involvement with National, State & Local Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Manage all elevator initiatives, including active leadership of elevator team members.
  • Manage and continue the development of a comprehensive Elevator maintenance program that will incorporate strategies to extend the life of our equipment & assets while minimizing repair costs and downtime of assets.
  • Utilize data to monitor trends and provide analysis to eliminate/reduce Elevator issues with a “cradle to grave” approach.
  • Manage inspections, violations and drive efficiency to reduce / eliminate citations and shut downs.
  • Validate the need for major Elevator modernizations through field visits.
  • Develop Elevator specifications, details, scopes of work, budgets and oversight of design work which includes accurate code analysis.
  • Utilize knowledge/experience of jurisdictional requirements to expedite techniques for project approvals
  • Incorporate value engineering and identify any alternative options available for projects.
  • Identify and qualify vendors/consultants, negotiation of bids, and project management through to completion including regular site inspections of active projects.
  • Develop and document processes and procedures for standardization.
  • Research and recommend new products and technologies for our Elevator Assets utilizing our value model of quality and cost.
  • Provide emergency support response as needed.
  • Assist with acquisition due diligence as needed, and turnover of new product from Construction.
  • Proactively communicate with managers and other team members in order to drive timely solutions
Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Elevator industry is required with preference to experience with a National elevator company or consultant.
  • Expertise with both hydraulic and traction units required.
  • Field experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering or related field is preferred; or equivalent direct experience.
  • NAEC Certified Elevator Technician (CET) Certification, NAESA Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) Certification, or other industry certification preferred.
  • Self-motivated individuals who have the ability to manage many simultaneous projects and responsibilities are a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and vendors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite office products (Excel, PowerPoint, word, outlook)
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodations
  • Must be able to travel.

Public Storage teammates are expected to work in the office five days each week with the option to take up to three flexible remote days per month.
