Mortgage back-office operations is a department which deals with various sub-processes within the Mortgage Originations domain. This position will be responsible for various duties relating to the pre-closing and monitoring of loans prior to closing. The Pre-close review specialist will always exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, communicate with processors and closers prior to closing of loans. Must have knowledge of state and federal guidelines to ensure all files are complaint.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review loans for Originations, Pre-Funding /Post Funding, Closing functions to ensure that all compliance requirements are met and all information matches/is consistent across all file documents
  • Review file prior to closing for missing initial loan documentation
  • Review file expiration dates to ensure documents are valid at closing
  • Complete Review of Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosures
  • Review of all documents in the closing package including loan specific docs and state specific docs
  • Ensure that the underwriter's conditions have been satisfied.
  • Setting up of Escrow accounts and ensure property titles are clear and the buyer and seller’s agreement is fulfilled
  • Responsible for ensuring proper supporting documentation for change of circumstance and timing requirements
  • All Vendor documents like Appraisal, Title, Insurance, Tax documents etc. to be reviewed and validated
  • Reviewing all preliminary documents provided from attorney/title company to include, but not limited to: Title binder, survey, termite report, Hazard/Flood insurance binder, Deed, HUD1 Settlement
  • Adhere to internal policies to ensure compliance with legal parameters as well as company policies and procedures

Skill/Competency Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of entire mortgage loan process
  • Knowledge in Pre-Closing Audit preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail / Analytical Skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and/or oral)
