Job Details:

Mercer Medicine is searching for a Physician Assistant for the Eatonton, Georgia clinic location.

Responsibilities:

Provide primary health care to patients in the general population under the supervision of a physician, the Georgia Scope of Practice, and written approval protocols.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited college/university, a current Physician Assistant, PA-C and at least one year of experience in a general clinic situation, preferably a physician practice. Candidate must provide a certificate of current liability insurance coverage. Experience working in a family practice setting is a plus as is prescription authority from the DEA.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Competent in providing Basic Life Support (with current certification).

  • Capable of examining and evaluating patient signs/symptoms and initiates treatment as indicated within their scope of practice.

  • Has prescriptive authority by using our MD's DEA or has their own DEA.

  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Microsoft Office Applications and intermediate computer skills and experience or ability to utilize EMR (eClinical works).

  • Able to work as team player with clinic colleagues and department as a whole.

  • Must be flexible

  • Maintains appropriate professional patient-clinician relationships.

  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.

Must possess the ability to provide overall care including:

  • Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases;
  • Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits;
  • Emphasizing preventative care and disease management;
  • Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues;
  • Refers patients to appropriate medical/health care specialists when indicated.
